Jeremy at The Lodge in Verbier

I am so glad to be here in Verbier, nestled into the Swiss Alps surrounded by snow covered pines and clean mountain air. The snow is deep and the piste is twinkling in the bright sunshine like a Swarovski Bud Duck. The skiers look to be having a great time on the slopes, but I for one, am happy to relax and watch them from my vantage point at ‘The Lodge’.

It’s not all about the snow here, unless of course you include the Snowball cocktails that I was quite happily quacking back last night.  I think it’s called après ski and I think I’m quite good at it!

Today I decided to take it easy and have a swim in the indoor pool and a bob about in the jacuzzi instead of joining the others on the mountain. I’m now settled by the log fire watching a snow boarder who looks suspiciously like one of The Lodge guys attempting a black run – good luck pal, I’ll be keeping my feathers crossed for you!

You may be wondering how I’ve ended up on yet another luxury holiday.  Well it’s simple, it’s my prize from my fellow ducks at ‘The Lodge’ from our water fight on Necker Island at Christmas (see Necker Island blog 03/02/16). I can guarantee these guys know just how to live life to the fullest. While they are out on the slopes in their coats loaned from Eider, I’m simply relaxing with a Duck Egg Nog and waiting for our chef to cook up another culinary marvel.

I tell you what, I’m liking Verbier so much that I might just have to revisit in the summer to see what it’s like without the snow. Perhaps I’ll sample an activity holiday rather than watch one. Ha who am I kidding? The work of a roving reporter is a tiresome one, so an alpine rest will do just the job.

Tonight I’m giving the après ski a miss and getting an early night so I can hit the slopes bright and early with Mr Lodge tomorrow. Wish me luck!
